Sun River Resort Oregon - A Great Place for a Family Vacation!

Our extended family of 21 get together every three years. We range in age from 1 to late 60’s. This year we selected Sun River Resort, near Bend, OR for our reunion, and we not disappointed. This is really a marvelous place for families. There are a number of different lodging options available. We rented two houses on the same street, close enough so the kids could bicycle back and forth. We had walkie-talkies which made communication easy. We come from all over the country, some of us flew into the nearby Redmond/Bend airport.

We took turns hosting dinners. There are two well stocked grocery stores at the resort, but we took a couple of trips back into Bend (about 10 miles) for some major grocery items. There were two pools to choose from, golf, horse back riding and river float trips. We also drove a few miles across Highway 97 to Lava Lake Caves, and walked into the caves with our kids. They loved it. We arranged all the female adults a day at the lavish spa.

There is a “Fort Funnigan” for the kids, but we didn’t use it. We kept the kids active with our own things to do.

There are 35 miles of bike trails and we got most of ‘em. Our house had 7 bikes in it, we brought two of our own. The Resort has a “Bike Barn” where bikes of all sizes are available for rent.

We rented through the Resort via their web site:
http://www.sunriver-resort.com/sunri...t-overview.php
and had many discounts and privileges available (like the pool). Renting and check in procedure was a breeze, as all the agents are very friendly and helpful. The homes we rented were well maintained and clean, basically as advertised on the web site.

We all had a terrific time, especially the kids. I would recommend this resort area to anyone looking for family oriented vacations. Will answer any questions, if I can.

Glad you enjoyed - I love SunRiver too - live in Eugene so can go frequently and, lucky me, I have a friend who lives there so can stay with her.

The biketrails are one of my favorite parts -

This is why we bought a vacation home in Sunriver five years ago. We live in CA and LOVE to visit the area. Tons to do...we explore new areas each time we visit.

We go several times each year and one of those trips is always a big family gathering We havr rentef thru Sunriver itself a few times, but usually use another property management cimpany, Sunray Inc, as I prefer their rental policies. You are right, the spa there is fantastic!

I love reading glowing reports about Sunriver. Because, not only do I mostly agree with them, but they help keep Black Butte Ranch low on the radar screen. ;-)

We've spent summer weeks there for 25+ years, sf7307. Just something about that place; one of my favorites on the entire planet.

For most of us, it was our first time there. We truly enjoyed it, and pressure is on to find a new place for 3 years from now. (We try not to repeat locations.)
Because we rented through the resort, we had a complimentary golf round at either the Meadows or Woodlands course, and discounts at the Bike Barn and a few other places. Anyway, we had no complaints about the whole rental/arrival/departure process. They were great to work with.
