We plan to travel to Michigan or Northern IN along Lake Michigan (Bev Shores? Sheridan Beach? Michigan City?) with a 2 year old this summer. We are now looking for a hotel/condo/cabin that will sleep 3 and does NOT require a weekly rental. We will be driving from Indianapolis and are focusing our search along the Lake Michigan shoreline anywhere between Indiana towns all the way to Grand Haven area in Michigan. Any suggestions for a hotel/condo/cabin near beach/children's play area? Any lodging suggestions are GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sleepy Hollow in South Haven has almost everything you are looking for. You can rent cabins on a daily basis, it is on Lake Michigan, plus it has a pool and areas for kids. Here is the link. http://www.sleepyhollowonlakemichigan.com/
I second Sleepy Hollow. My best friend has a family reunion there every second week of June. Her 9 grandchildren from both coasts think it is the highlight of their year.
Another good thing is that it is not too far for you because it is not that far into MI proper, yet South Haven has access to much activity both N & S of it.
Have you ever been to Koontz Lake in IN? They have rentals as well, by the day. It is near Walkerton IN. It is definitely not Lake MI, but you may like an inland spring fed lake with a 2 year old as well, especially if you have a fisherman or two. You may be able to get that last minute. It doesn't have a beach but it's where my youngest children learned to fish. Probably not a long ride for you either.
It's a little known gem, mostly privately owned by Chicagoans.
We used to go to Saugatuck, MI many years ago. Haven't been through there for about 15 years, though.
