Sullivan's Island - SC
Hi - looking to relocate from Miami Beach, FL. Can anyone give me info on Sullivan's Island in South Carolina. It's just my husband and I. I am 34 - he is 43. We are looking to live on or near the beach but do not want an island that has a lot of hotels, motels, etc. Thank you so much for all of your help.

I can't give you a lot of information, but perhaps topping this message will do the trick.
Sullivan's Island is a fairly narrow barrier island near Charleston; bounded by a beautiful marsh and a very nice beach. We did a drive-by last week in between appointments in nearby Mount Pleasant (we drove through Sullivan's Island and then Isle of Palms). Sullivan's appeared less developed than IOP, with few, if any, hotels--mostly houses. The houses on IOP were stunning. We were thinking that the folks who bought on IOP a few years ago are probably doing very, very well with their investment. Perhaps Sullivan's Island presents some similar opportunities, as it does not seem as developed yet.
Given your criteria, the proximity of Charleston (an awesome city), the natural beauty, if I was looking for a house on or near the beach on the Atlantic Coast, I think this area would be on my short list.

I believe Sullivan's Island has some kind of restrictive covenants which preclude rentals to non relatives and hotel type properties. GoTravel may be able to clarify that.
Very, very expensive land, but a gorgeous place if you can afford it.

Hi there, Guzmane, how did the shopping go? Sullivans would be a fantastic place to live. I don't think there are any hotels on Sullivans, lots of rental prop.
