Stop between Grand Canyon and Las Vegas? Route 66

Hi
Can anyone recommend a 1 night stop in a good hotel/motel on route 66 half way between Grand Canyon and Las Vegas? Much appreciated.

Do you really need one?

It is about a 4.5 hour drive?

sorry, meant to add, I've driven that route a few times and I don't remember noticing any place that I would want to stay for an overnight.

Maybe check out the town of Kingman if you really need to stop

Thanks for the reply Frank. The reason we thought about stopping over is because we are driving early from Sedona to Grand Canyon (do Desert View Trail, stop at Village) then leave on same day.

If you think you are going to be too tired to drive maybe just stay either inside the Grand Canyon or the town right outside the national park gate, Tusayan

I would really encourage you to stop overnight at Grand Canyon village (or Tusayan if there are no rooms available at the Grand Canyon). A brief stop at the GC village is far too short IMO. With an overnight you could see a sunset and/or a sunrise at the Canyon. both are amazing.

I guess I agree with trying Kingman as a stopping place on Rte 66 on the way to Las Vegas if you really want to leave the canyon but it is hard for me to imagine choosing that over more time at the GC
