How long will you stay? Are you saying that you only want to sleep on Maui, but maybe do daytrips to other islands? What kind of activities do you enjoy? Could you give us a per-night amount that you want to spend on accommodations? We can better help you if we know some of these things.....thanks!

oahu for pearl harbor and island circumference drive, but to really get away, try kauai. visit sunny south side, lush north side. see waimai canyon on south side (grand canyon of the pacific) and take a hike there. on the north side do the napali coast trail hike. you will never forget the scenery and experience.

Rusty, Adagirl's post is so vague that I was trying to figure out EXACTLY what she was asking. From the way it's written, it could very well be interpreted as her thinking that she would stay/sleep on Maui, and might easily run back and forth to the other islands. I was asking her questions to try to better assist her. Untwist your knickers, Rusty!;-)

Kauai is beautiful. Very lush, good for kayaking or bicycling, golf etc.
I also loved the Big Island. Not as lush, but the volcano's and the lava rock is very cool to see. Volcano National Park is really interesting.
We did a day trip to kauai, flew over and back, but if you could stay for a night or two, that would be good. I think the Big Island would be tough to do on a day trip. Longer drive to see volcano's.
If you have $$$'s - a great hotel over on the Big Island is the Four Seasons Hualalai. We spent our honeymoon there and it was fabulous. Very pricey, but hey...it's your honeymoon!
Good luck to you and enjoy!

Do the Big Island. Entirely overlooked by most visitors. Go to Hilo, this is real life Hawaii. Kamuela as well as Kona, particularly Captain Cook, etc. Except for the few resort areas, there is not a lot of tourist stuff. This is the way the real residents of Hawaii live...not like Maui

Rusty, let me spell it out for you. I thought that SHE, possibly not knowing anything about the Hawaiian Islands, thought that people might do such a thing. (In some island configurations, unlike the Hawaiian Islands, people do base themselves on one island and simply do daytrips to the others.) I was trying to figure out what SHE was assuming...... period. Of course, I know that people don't usually sleep on Maui, and just do daytrips to other islands! I was trying to make sure SHE didn't ASSUME that!!! Again, have a good day....

I hope adagirl comes back - because now I'm intrigued.
Just wanted to add that we made a great daytrip to Lanai that included a catamaran with some sailing, snorkeling on Lanai, a tour of the island, and a meal. It was a great way to get an idea if we would ever want to stay on Lanai.

To Bonnie; Ignore Rusty. He once posted one of his reasons for comong to this forum to to see how stupid people really are and is never disappointed. He is a cynic not worth the time. Just keep on trying to be helpful. As for the original question, assuming Rusty's typical nonsense hasn't dissuaded the original poster from returning, my suggeston is that every island has merit so what activities are the sort you are looking for? And Rusty, get a life.
