Staying at holiday inn express midtown manhattan
We have finally made reservations from October 20 to 26, good grief, the prices to stay I. New York are crazy! Anyway, it is what it is! And we are going to have so much fun! We are looking for good restaurants close to where we are staying, or martini/wine bars or lounges where you can just sit and enjoy great music. any ideas? Has anyone heard of the new Sideshow? Thanks for any responses.

If this is the hotel on far West 48th, you'll find a nice selection of restaurants along 9th Avenue and a surprisingly good selection on 10th Avenue.
There's an outlet of the Peruvian chicken restaurant Pio Pio at 44th/10th Ave. I love it, and it's cheap. One of my favorite restaurants is ViceVersa (modern Italian) on 51st between 8th and 9th Aves.
And I really like Marseille on the corner of 44th/9th Avenue for French-Mediterranean food.
I've also been to Uncle Nick's on 9th Avenue between 51st and 52nd and like it, though there are definitely better Greek restaurants.
That's just a few, but you'll find a whole host of reasonably priced, non-tourist restaurants along both Avenues within easy reach of this hotel. (There are other Holiday Inn Express hotels in Midtown, however, so this may not be the one you're at.)

I like Pio Pio and their Matador combo is great to share.
My favorite pre-theater place is the West Bank Café. They also have entertainment afterwards.

If you want a rooftop bar, go to the top of the Ink48 hotel -

NeoPatrick took me there last year.

If you are staying at the Edison, go to Juniors. They have a good breakfast and decent lunch, especially if you go on the early side before the hordes arrive. But it's huge, so waits aren't too long. They have great hot dogs and not bad corned beef.
