Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building
I would like to purchase (in advance) tickets to the Statue of Liberty and Empire State building. I was hoping to buy a package deal to save money. Really, information about any package deals around NYC would be very helpful. Thanks!

Yes, the Statue of Liberty is closed, but, I believe you can still get on the island. (However, you get a better view of it from the boat that goes there--or from the free Staten Island Ferry).
So, as not to confuse anyone. Ellis Island, which is definitely worth a visit, is not on the same island as the statue, but you take the same boat to get there.

HowardR is correct. One thing i would recommend is if you are interested in taking an overall tour of The City, would be to take a Gray Line bus tour and you can buy the Statue/Ellis Island tickets at the same time.

There is no admission charge for either the Statue of Liberty or Ellis Island. You do, however, have to pay for the ferry ride which is handled by Circle Line.
You can purchase the ferry tixs ahead of time. The charge for RT tixs is $10 for adults. Check out www.circlelineferry.com for advance purchase.
We purchased our tixs in NYC at the Gray Line Visitors Center on 8th Avenue between 47th & 48th Sts. If you are planning to take the Gray Line double-decker tour bus (and maybe even if you're not) you may purchase your Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island tixs there ahead of time. The tixs are not date specific so you can go when you choose.
Also, here's a tip that might help you. If you are buying Gray Line tour tixs you may take their express trolley directly to Battery Park to take the Circle Line ferry. It leaves each morning at 8:30 and 9:00 from across the street from the 8th Ave. visitor's center.
The ferry stops first at Statue of Liberty. You may get off there and walk the grounds or stay on to go directly to Ellis Island.
You can also buy Empire State Bldg. tixs online ahead of time or they will sell these to you at the Gray Line offc. Website is www.esbnyc.com Tixs are $9 for adults. We didn't buy ahead and I was glad as the weather did not cooperate last week. We went into the ESB lobby, they were announcing 1 mile visibility and 10 min. waits, but we opted to not go up.
There is a package deal for these attractions with a museum or two, something like 6 attractions for one price. Be sure to price out each individually to make sure it's worth it for you.

While you can't get into the Statue, you can gett off the baot and walk around Liberty Island. You can se the Stautue quite well from the boat, so no need to get off at liberty Island. instead I would utilize my time at Ellis Island.
As a previoud poster mentioned, when you buy a Grayline bus tour ticket, you can also purchase a ticket for the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island boat tour while you are there. It saves you from standing in the long line to get the ticket at Battery Park
