State Hwy 117 North from I40
WE just returned from our cross country trip. We had a short stop at a small town located on State Hwy 117 North (from I40). We took a great photo of the town sitting at the bottom of a large mesa along side Hwy 117N. Unfortunately we did not record the name of the town and have not been able to locate Hwy 117 on either the N.M or Az state maps.
Any recommendations or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
PS: I could be completely wrong and it may have been in Calif along I40 or Hwy 58 or 46.

This is very confusing. NM117 (rte 66)is shown as running parrell to I-40 into Grants. and not directly north from I-40 as the photograph apparently indicates. I did a google earth map search and it clearly shows there is no interchange going directly north from I-40 to Grants. The road sign leading to the town (?) (under magnification)clearly says North 117 with the town in the near distance with the mesa behind it. The photo is a 35MM and I don't have the skills necessary to scan it to a file and post link to it, but my son or daughter in law should be able to do it when they visit next month. I would really love to idenify the location. After reviewing our notes, I've came to the conclusion that we did not actually stop here, since we had spent the night in Tumcumcari, in which case the wife would have taken the photo from the car on I-40, but this does not seem possible since 117 does not connect or run directly north from I40. I will see about the link to the photo and would appreciate any feedback. Thanks
