Can someone kindly provide comment on either Sheraton, Marriott and/or Westin? They seem to be about the same price. Also, is Sheraton walkable from the train station and the mall nearby?
Thanks.

You cannot walk from the Sheraton to either the Mall or the train station. However, the Marriott is across the street from the mall and about a 5-10 minute walk to the station. The Westin is not near either.
There is some construction on I-95 close to the Sheraton so request a room not facing the parkway.
The marriot has a great revolving restaurant on top. The westin has great beds. I am sure they have a shuttle to and from the mall. All the hotels are about 5 minutes apart.
I've stayed in the Marriott many times. It's nice. Sometimes packed with weddings / reunions / meetings but I've never had a noise problem in the room. You can walk to the train station; it's slightly sketchy and you might not want to try it after dark. Cab certainly shouldn't run more than $5, if the driver is honest.
Hi there.... Like the people above said The Marriott is in central location to everything, walking distance from the train station, mall, restaurants, etc. It's your regular corporate standard Marriott. Overnight rooms have been renovated less than a year ago and it has the standard amenities you will find in a full service hotel. However, you might find that the rates are slighty higher than the Westin or the Sheraton due to its popular location.
The Westin it's a nice hotel, modern with contermporary designs, comfortable bed...obviously your heavenly beds are known here, however, location is not the greatest, it's located in a business park area, and I wouldn't suggest to walk the surrounding areas. They do offer complimentary shuttle.
The Sheraton is next to a small shopping area (Marshalls, Old Navy, Stop & Shop, etc), as well as some restaurants. Is it walking distance to downtown, yes ...approx. 15 min walk or less, it's an easy and safe walk though. They are working hard in this hotel trying to bring it up to the level to the other competitors (Marriott and Westin). At the same time they do have nice rooms and comfortable heavenly beds, and they do have a complimentary shuttle service.
On the other hand, if you wish to stay in in a nicer hotel close to Stamford. There is the Hyatt Regency Greenwich. This hotel is the better of them all. Nicely appointed overnight rooms, beautiful atrium area where you will find the restaurant and the lounge bar. They have an awesome Sunday Brunch, a bit pricey...but it goes along with the Greenwich prices. You might be able to find good weekend deals at this hotel, as it mostly thrives on busines during the weeks. They do offer complimentary shuttle service and it's approx. 5 to 7 min. drive to downtown Stamford, and approx. 7-10 min drive to Greenwich Avenue.
Nice to read about people interested in my hometown although I haven't lived there for over 30 years.
I was in Stamford on October 17, 2004, for my Stamford HS reunion.
I can't give you hotel reviews as I stayed at a friend's home.
