Yes, drive over to Sea Island and visit the Cloister, its not well known but should be. Also take a day trip to Cumberland Island which is extremely remote. I think its Cumberland that has an old Carnegie Estate that also serves as a hotel. I dont know about you, but I wouldnt pay 300. in Georgia with no air conditioning, but this time of the year thats not an issue. Jekyll Island is also interesting and Millionaires row where all the captains of industry built "cottages" in the 1890's. I might have dated info but the King and Prince is probably one of the nicer ones. Theres also a lot of Condo's that are handled by local realtors. Sea Island is dominated by the Cloister resort, if you can swing it by all means stay there!

I live on Jekyll Island which is next to St. Simons. You might want to check the rates at the Cloister. It is an expensive place.
For pretty good seafood in a funky setting go to the Crab Trap on St. Simons. Mullet Bay is ok, and for good homestyle cooking, try Barbara Jeans, around the corner toward the pier from Mullet Bay. Go there around 5 or so, as it is a small place and fills up fast after 5 or 5:30.
Drive over to Jekyll for a day. Rent bikes and ride around the island. Check out the historic district. You can take a guided tour on little trams that give you the history, etc.
If you go to Cumberland Island, you will need to drive down to St. Marys and take a ferry to Cumberland. The Park service operates the ferries. There are no public facilities nor food, etc. so you will have to take your own.
This is a good area to rest and relax for a few days. Hope you enjoy.

Teri, one place I forgot to mention to eat ( if you like steak) is Bennies Red Barn on Frederica Rd. When we want good steak, that's where we go. There is a waiter named Alvin who has been there since the dawn of time. He has a parking spot by the front door with his name on it. They only open at 6 p.m.
I can't vouch for the desserts but the steaks are very good.
