There has been a great deal of discussion on another travel board that I read, it seems that most people feel this hotel is still working out the "kinks" and that the service is poor at best. Many of the people who have stayed here have mentioned that the $23 valet parking is ridiculous as is the uneven service. Many recommend giving it another month for the staff to work out the issues and it should be top notch. They also say that the property is very lovely.

Haven't stayed there but walked through the hotel two weeks ago. It is quite a sight - brand new, very large and opulent. I think people will love it or hate it. It is NOT located directly on the ocean and it looks like they depend on a shuttle to get you to the beach. Maybe a 5 minute ride/15 minute walk. It is located on a very nice golf course. I think its actually in Laguna Niguel because that is the address of the Ritz Carlton and they are walking distance away. If I had a choice, it would be the Ritz which is a 5 star hotel overlooking the ocean. Hope this helps some.

This is not entirely fair, because I haven't been inside yet, but my first impression as I drove up was "Las Vegas"! The hotel is more opulent then Vegas hotels, but it has that same over-the-top glamuour that, to me, feels a little ridiculous.

However, I still haven't heard any specific reports on rooms or restaurants, so we'll see.
