Best way to find out what is going on is to log on to st. Louis Post Dispatch at
www.stlnet.com on Thursday, August 24 and check out the Best Bets and Get Out
Section. It will have everything that is going on that weekend. Might also want to check out the Mount Pleasant Winery in Augusta - they sometimes have concerts/activities on the weekend. They have a web site also.
Check out the New Cathederal near Forest Park ( not to be confused with the Old Cathederal near the Arch). This church is one of the most beautiful in the USA.
It is decorated with mosaics that took over 50 years to complete.
A drive to the wine region is a great way to spend an afternoon. The area is about a 40 minute drive from downtown and you can visit about 5-7 wineries locted along a 10 mile stretch of road. An even better experience is to bike from one to another along the KATY trail. It is an easy gravel path along the old railroad that connected the various towns. You can park and rent bikes. Missouri wine is a hidden treasure that the rest of the nation has yet to discover.
The Muny opera in Forest park is a great way to start an evening. It is an outdoor theatre with broadway type shows. There are free seats in the back, so even if you don't want to spend the whole night at a show you can stand in the back and get the feel.
To get a real feel of St. Louis and the people attend a cardinal baseball game.
Old St.Charles is a great shopping and craft area.
Feel free to e-mail me with any other questions.
Six pence none the richer are at
six Flags theme park this weekend.
