For those coming to NYC - the Park has recovered from the untimely snow/hail storm last week and is starting to look really good:

Crocus and daffs have recovered
Forsythia and dogwood are in bloom
Grass is turning lovely green
Trees are in bud and starting to leaf

I couldn't help telling everyone - everything was so pretty coming to work through the park this am.

That's wonderful news. I love CP when the dogwood is blooming. It's my favorite time. Thanks for the update!

I'm a bit disappointed though. It's DH's first time, and we were planning a lot of outdoor things because he's not really a museum person. The extended forecast for our days there shows rain, rain, and more rain, and there's nothing like NYC in the Spring - I've been in every season except Fall, and it's my favorite by far. =( =(

I'm hoping that it is wrong.

Rain can mean just drizzle (wouldn't keep me indoors) or intermittent showers. But just in case - have some indoor options ready.

Do you have any idea how the Conservancy Gardens look? Are tulips blooming yet? Last year around May 15th it was beautiful and wondering if things will be later this year.

Hi nytraveler, we'd appreciate any input regarding driving from LGA to the Hudson River Valley on a Sunday. Our first stop and overnight will in Tarrytown to visit Kykuit. Our entry tickets aren't until 2:30. In view of traffic conditions, and wanting to travel the most scenic side of the Hudson up to that point, which route would you suggest? We have read about the Tappan Zee Bridge construction and are not sure how that might affect our travel. Thanks for any information you may have.

Google maps suggests I87 north, then turning onto Route 9 north before you reach the bridge. While the unfettered time shows as 38 minutes, early afternoon clogging might run you up to an extra half hour.

Of course, you could use google maps to get a better estimate closer to the time you are departing.

Thanks so much, nytraveler. We'll be in Manhattan for three days previous to our Hudson River Valley jaunt, so we're hoping for continued pleasant weather.
