I am pretty sure those $9 fares require you to join their club [$50 I think, per person flying] and they have other fees too, so the final cost is going to be way more than $9.
Spirit charges extra for just about everything so be aware.
Indeed they do- but in our experience, the final fare is often still much lower than the competitors'.
For routes you would travel frequently, it's worth paying the $59 to join the club imo.
For weekend getaways, I found a backpack online that I use for my (free of charge) personal item, saving on any added baggage fees.

It IS true that everything costs extra including overheads
but I decline everything pack light onebag.com you can slide
one bag under the seat in front of you at no charge.I LOVE
their Big Front Seat upgrades first class for the price of
coach from $25/leg. Do bring a credit card for food they do
not take cash but nice clean leather seats new planes usually
Airbuses for the longer legs I do with them. So go for it
I always do save hundreds.
