Special Resort for Extended Family Celebration?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a resort for an extended family to celebrate an 80th birthday, relatively accessible to NYC and Washington DC? We will be there in November. We would like a luxurious resort with a very nice indoor pool and health club. It should feel very special, and the indoor pool area should be very nice so grandparents who can�t walk well can watch grandkids swim.

If you are familiar with the Sagamore in the Adirondacks, that would be perfect if it were closer to NY and DC.
