I WORK at the Spam Museum. Well, actually I work for Hormel Foods and our department is located in the same building as the Spam Museum. I think you'll find the museum a qwirky little place that is easy to enjoy. You can even "can your own Spam!" The gift shop has got some unbelievable things! We'd love to have you stop!

Spam is a canned processed ham product.
It comes in a rectangular tin opened with a key, or used to. I think it was invented as a non-perishable food for WW II soldiers, though I suppose the website tells this better & more accurately.
In the 40s and 50s it was a common kids' lunch sandwich food. If people eat it now, they don't live where I do (in New York). Though of course it is still relatively inexpensive and convenient, as it is meat and doesn't need refrigeration.
