I'm looking for a place for 6 college girlfriends to stay for a summer weekend. We live in 4 contiguous states so SW Wisconsin is a good location. Moline, IL is actually the midpoint. NE Iowa, NW IL, or SE MN would also be possibilities. Instead of multiple rooms at a B & B we prefer a house, cottage or cabin. I'd really appreciate any suggestions on this. We have gotten together for 30 years!
Southwest Wisconsin cottage or cabin for 6 for weekend?

Have you considered Galena, Illinois? We have rented homes and condos there for a half dozen or more. We have rented through Eagle Ridge Resort but there are other agencies that do rentals as well.
I agree about Galena. Pretty area, lots to do around there (shopping, eating, etc). It's also close to Dubuque where there are also rentals and things to do.
I might have the PERFECT place for your "girl" trip. Try Cedar Valley Resort in Whalan, MN. Go to Cedarvalleyresort.com. These are beautiful cabins with a big great room and real nice kitchen. There's porches out front and you can grill if you want. This is very near Lanesboro, MN which is big for bike trails. The bike trail goes right through the resort, so you could go biking if you like. This year will be our tenth year that we have taken a "girl" trip on Labor Day to this resort. we canoe (or kayak or tube),laugh, maybe cry, eat, walk, laugh, eat, go shopping, etc. etc. It's not cheap, but when you have several sharing the cost, it's ok. If you do go, please tell them the "Waterloo" girls sent you!!! Oh, we also have a fire out on the big lawn at night and sing around the campfire. It's a great place!!!
A few years ago my hub and I stayed at a fabulous farmhouse rental in southern Wisconsin, halfway between Madison and Galena,IL.

The owner brings you fresh eggs from his chicken coop and you can use their bikes on old "rails trails" which are a short, flat ride to quaint neighboring towns.
