Does anybody know of a great resort-type place by Lake Michigan not too far north, preferably not a hi-rise?

In Wisconsin!
Gina - there are quite a few nice resorts that won't have you traveling too far to the North. Try the Ostoff in Elkhart Lake (60 mi. North of Milwaukee) or the American Club in Kohler (also 60 mi. North). Neither is right on the lake - most of that land is privately owned. But I've stayed at both and can recommend they both highly. As to the high-rise - neither is more than 4 stories. When are you going, and what are you wanting to do?
