South Lake Tahoe hotel info needed

We are going skiing at Heavenly midweek in March and wanted hotel information for some specific hotels. I have searched for info on Forest Suites Resort, Tradewinds Resort and Lakeland village and have'nt found much at all. Does anyone have any first hand knowledge of these accomodations? We are looking for something close to the Gondola so access to the mountain is easy. How extensive is the shuttle system and do we really need to be at Heavenlys base to make good time? We have also looked at some casinos (Harrahs, Harveys, Caesars) and some come with breakfast which is a plus. All advice is appreciated. Thank You

Harvey's and Harrah's is on the end of the "casino row" and are closest to the new gondola. Embassy Suites is also right there, and would be my first choice is you can afford the price tag (they run mid-week ski specials). Also, there are 2 condo places I know of...The Ridge Tahoe is on the Nevada side and is gorgeous. On the California side, there is the Tahoe Seasons Resort. Tahoe Seasons Resort is also in the Entertainment Book. Both are walking distance to the lifts (the Ridge has it's own private gondola to Heavenly's lift).

Even though the name is Tradewinds resort it isn't the sort of resort you'd imagine. It's very much a motor lodge. No central lobby. Pool and spa are outdoors and it's a little over 1/10th mile uphill to the ski lifts.

Embassy Suites is right next to the new gondola and just next door to the casinos. It also includes breakfast and coctails. Indoor pool and jacuzzi. There are great midweek rates there, currently $139 but I've seen lower rates too. We've stayed there many times.

Tahoe Seasons as mentioned by childcarelady is at the top of the hill off Ski Run Blvd where the original Heavenly tram is. We've stayed there. The rooms are mostly suites like the embassy but they have a jacuzzi in the center which has screens you can open or close. They have a small eating area, microwave and refrigerator. The location is away from the casinos but there are shuttles.

you really can stay anywhere in town. Heavenly has shuttles that run all the time everywhere. If you can afford it Embassy suites is nice, And if you want some seclusion the ridge is nice too. There is also 30 - 40 small hotels All within a five minute wlak to the gondola. That can be as cheap as $30 a night. If you are going to go that route, dont worry about reservations. I have gone twice with no reservations and had no problem finding a place. Also the inn by the lake is a really nice hotel that is across the street from the lake. Its a little far from heavenly but again shuttles are everywhere. Also if you have a car drive up into the neighborhood To the left of heavenly, (on the california side). The views up there are amazing, there are several spots where you can get out and look. You can see the whole lake and actually look down on the casinos, the whole town and this offers great views. Have fun and watch out for the trees.
