We are planning a motorcycle trip from July 25th to August 4th. Our plan is to stay in the Black Hills for the 1st 2 days @ Hisega Lodge. Then on July 27th head toward The Tetons, stopping in Riverton, Wy. overnight. Then head to Jackson to stay at the Angler Inn for 2 days and cruise around the Tetons and maybe South Yellowstone. Then on the 30th head thru Yellowstone to Red Lodge Mt for another 2 days and explore the north end of the park.
From there head to Gillette Wy for 1 day to check out Devils Tower and then head back to Hisega for the last 2 days of our trip. Any comments or help would be appreciated. I've read several comments that say driving/riding at night is a bad idea. I'm concerned that from Red
Lodge to the park and back might be a push as well as from Jackson to Red Lodge. What do you think???? Thanks
South Dakota to Grand Teton To Yellowstone & back

Then on the 30th head thru Yellowstone to Red Lodge Mt for another 2 days and explore the north end of the park.
You will be tackling two very slow driving mountain passes on one day even though it's only about 230 miles. Mount Washburn and the Beartooth Highway http://www.beartoothhighway.com/roadMaps/index.html. You are not going to want to drive over the Beartooth Highway to get back into the north part of Yellowstone for two days. It's like 2 hours just doing the 68 miles of the Beartooth Hwy. The geysers are down at the southern end and traveling from the Jackson up to the geyser areas is a long way too! Figure 2 hours from Jackson to Old Faithful area (one way).
If you can't find a place to stay inside the park (keep calling for cancellations, then try staying a couple nights at West Yellowstone so you can see the park and then exit going to Red Lodge.
