Start by going to this website:
http://www.southbeach-usa.com
This will give you an overview of the nghtlife society in South Beach (and greater Miami, actually). A little too focused on the glitz, but it's useful information in any case. The nightclub guide has a nicely-organized list of "hot" clubs. Note that the notion of "hot" changes weekly. You can also go to the Miami Herald's website for some guidance:
http://www.miami.com
Have you lined up your hotel yet? You shouldn't have any problems finding a room, but you will need to be careful. The rule of "you get what you pay for" doesn't get any truer than in South Beach.

Thanks, were actually debating between Panama City or South Beach; but SB would def. offer us more.
Do you recommend any hotels that are close to the beach, and decent enough without paying an arm and leg??
It's for my graduation gift from college with my best girlfriends!

Hotel rooms in South Beach are tiny. Think 1950s hotel rooms.
Getting two beds in a room will most likely be two doubles instead of two queens.
Check out the Holiday Inn. The Holiday Inn doesn't have a resort fee (up to $12 per day at some hotels) and has free parking (around $20 per day is the norm). It is on the north end of South Beach near the Lincoln Road mall.
The South Seas Hotel is also reasonable and nice.
Either that or get rooms on priceline. Even with parking and resort fees it is cheaper. Just don't try for 4 people in a room. In some places it is okay but in South Beach, you'd end up with four people and a double bed.
(hey rjw, you staying at the Ritz-Carlton South Beach for the big 40? Or you going for Delano, Shore Club, Tides, or something else?)

Hi Go!! I went with my heart and got an oceanview room at the Cardozo. I got a 25% discount-- I couldn't pass it up! Minor quibbles: Small bathroom (I can deal with that) and queen-sized bed (but without our cats, there's plenty of room to cuddle with my honey!!). I plan to visit the R-C as well as take cocktails at the Delano, sushi at the Shore Club, etc. with the savings on the hotel room. Who knows?! Maybe the Victor will be ready to open by then!
