Sonoma Wine Tour 2 nights

Hello! My husband and I have decided to spend 2 nights in the Sonoma Wine country area after being in Tahoe for a few nights....This will be the tail end of our trip and we are looking for a nice place to stay centrally located. We are very active and would love to even bike to the wineries from our hotel or b&b....any suggestions?

The H2 Hotel in Healdsburg. Great location, and they have bikes for you to use. The Healdsburg Hotel, their sister property, is a bit splurgier but wonderful. Not sure if it has bikes, though--surely.

Why not look into a vacation rental by owner and pretend you live in Sonoma County?. They are not legal within Healdsburg city limits, but there are plenty in the surrounding countryside. The hotels in Hbg. are expensive, but if that is what you want, then go for it. Personally I'd go www.vrbo.com and look at the Healdsburg/wine country area.

our budget is $300 per night-- and looking outside of healdsburg... should we stay in town Sonoma? or off the beaten path in Glenn Ellen? We want to visit a couple of the larger wineries as well in Napa so we want the best location for the price... it would be nice to just be around a couple nice restaurants within walking distance in the evenings after some tours....appreciate the help?!?

If you want to be within walking distance of several great restaurants, then central Healdsburg is your best bet. Sonoma comes second, IMO, but I just don't care for the restaurants there as much. Glen Ellen, while technically walkable in some areas, lacks sidewalks and lighting in a lot of places. We stayed at the Gaige House last year, and while it was lovely, and I would stay there again, and we were told we could walk to a couple of restaurants, the dark, winding two-lane road without sidewalks dissuaded us.
