Sonoma Valley Restaurant

Fellow fodorites:

I am in the midst of planning a birthday dinner with a large group attending (at least 12 perhaps 18 people) in Sonoma this upcoming Fourth of July weekend (I know it is far in advance). The group of 12 will all be staying at a house we rented for the long weekend through beautiful-places.com. The house is located 10 minutes from Glen Ellen and 20 minutes from Sonoma proper.

Having said that, can anyone recommend restaurants in the area that would be able to arrange for a side or private room for us to have a birthday dinner to accomodate such a large group. From a price perspective, we are hoping to be able to do a prix fixe dinner with 3 courses (where the guests can pick their courses from several options) at about $50 per person (not including alcohol) but including tax and tip.

Please let me know if anyone can reccomend any restaurants in Sonoma, Glen Ellen or Kenwood which would be able to accomodate a large group.

Thanks in advance!

The Swiss Hotel, right on the plaza,
has a private dining room in wine cellar, as well as another outdoor
area with it's own kitchen. It is a
lovely historic hotel.
I used them for my wedding reception
and everything was perfect !

Piatti Ristorante Sonoma also has
a private dining room-I have been to
rehersal dinners and Christmas parties
there-very good.

Carlo Cavello had moved his divine
restaurant Meritage to a space with lovely gardens.

Hope this helps!

My friend from NY, who I liken to Carmella on The Sopranos, raves about the true Italian food at The Swiss Hotel. She just ate there(again) and says it's as good as ever.

Yes, the Swiss Hotel is very nice. We like their outdoor patio. We just walked by Piatti @ the Hotel El Dorado yesterday and they are closed until the middle of May for renovations, so it should be very nice for your date!

the girl and fig may be able to accomodate you. We enjoyed another excellent lunch there a couple of days ago. This is one of my favorite places in Sonoma! Good luck and cheers! ***kim***

Also, in Kenwood is Doce Lunas, we had a very nice lunch there lsat week. Sometime I would like to try the Kenwood Restaurant, maybe someone could give you some opinions on that place. Have a wonderful dinner! ***kim***
