Someplace warm and beachfront for winter 2015

And economical. Yes, I my be dreaming but I'm still looking! We stayed in the Panhandle for 4 seasons because we could do it for $2000.00 a month and we went to Hawaii last year for that price plus airfare. Now I would like to try for someplace warmer than the Panhandle in Florida. Any ideas will be so appreciated!

Does it have to be Florida?

Belize is inexpensive. And it's guaranteed to be warm, not so with Florida.

Actually BigRuss I thought of Belize. Where? I looked a little on VRBO and someone complained about seeing alligator eyes (they shine at night) and it made me think I have no idea where it is fun and safe. Do you?

Ambergris Caye not far from San Pedro. Should be a truckload of listings near town, especially with all the construction above "the cut" (the inlet that separated the northern edge of San Pedro from a whole lotta beach and random rich folks' villas).

Cozumel, Mexico. Easy to get to from Ohio. Wonderful food. Amazing ocean views. A lot less expensive than Hawaii. Much warmer than Florida. Are you looking to stay a month or more? We stay in Cozumel for a month every winter and have for 22 years. There are very nice condo rentals for long term stays. You will also find a lot of people from the mid-west -- MN, WI, MI, OH are all represented well on the beaches.

Have a look here:

TC Those units are beautiful! Thank you for sharing. I did want to stay within driving range instead of having to fly and I do like to stay somewhere I have never been and we have been to Cozumel a couple of times but the condo's in your link are really inviting!

If you want to drive, I think the Florida Keys are the best bet for warmer weather.

It it does have to be Florida then come down here to SOUTH Florida where it is usually a LOT warmer than the panhandle region.

Have you looked into the possibility of Santo Domingo?

If you want to drive, I think South Florida--Naples or south of there on the west coast, West Palm or south on the east--is your only option. If you go as far as the Keys, you'll be guaranteed temps in the mid 70's or higher, I think. I don't know which area would be more economical, though, sorry!

Love the idea of Belize, though. Lots to do both on the coast and in the interior, beautiful weather, nice people.

Well - driving to Florida from Ohio? is closer than coming out here to enjoy the beaches and great weather in San Diego.

Well - if you want really warm weather - during our SD "winter" - you might consider going to Costa Rica also.

More to do there than in say Belize.
