Some JFK Help Needed

3 of us will be flying non-stop from Indianapolis via Delta into JFK on Fri. 10/12/07; "scheduled" to arrive at 3:18 pm. We are all healthy adults & experienced travelers, but not at JFK.

Then we will fly MaxJet from JFK to London; flight leaves at 8:15 pm.

Should we stay overnite or is the 5 hour layover enough? (possible delayed arrival, get luggage, get to MaxJet terminal, checkin, security, get to gate)

Thanks, Julie

5 hours should be okay, even if its delayed a couple hours. Theres a shuttle train that goes to all the terminals. Note that the last time I used it the terminal announcements were wrong so look at the terminal numbers as you enter the terminals.

5 hours should be plenty of time. Of course, there's no way to predict if your in-bound flight will be delayed and if so for how long. That's the chance you take with any flight. You can check the on time record statistics for your flight at:

www.flightstats.com

You should be OK at that time of day, and that time of year. I would say a 99 percent chance of making the connection.

You should be okay. Check-in, security with Maxjet is pretty quick.

Julie Hurst: Hello, thinking of also booking on MaxJet and our flight would originate in St. Louis so I also was wondering how much time to allow for check in, etc.

Did you book your flight on line with MaxJet? If so at which point in the booking process to you get to see what seats are available? Availability of seats does not seem to be a choice on their website.

Unless there is some truly horrendous weather somewhere that delays your inbound flight to JFK (I know a couple of years ago there was a tornado that closed the Ind airport for a good part of the day) 5 hours should be plenty of time.

Thanks everyone for your quick responses. A_Traveller, that is a great website. Doesn't look good for that Delta flight!

Sandy, I have never booked MaxJet online. I always call - no extra charge for booking via telephone. While I'm on the phone, I keep seatguru.com on my screen with the maxjet seats visible. Then I ask what seats are available in the section of the plane I prefer. We like the prices of MaxJet & the onboard service is the same as any first class service. Of course, I always add up my extras (connecting flights, overnite hotels, Stansted transfer) for flying MaxJet to be sure another direct airline wouldn't be a better deal. This time I got JFK to London on MaxJet for $1550 RT pp. The lowest first class direct IND-LON was $2600 pp - difference $3150 for the 3 of us.

Thanks again, Julie

Julie Hurst:

Exactly the information that I have been looking for. I wasn't aware there was no fee to speak to an agent.

Thank you so much for your kind and helpful reply.

Sandy
