Y'all didn't steer me wrong last time. I ate really, really well in SF a few years ago thanks to folks here! My favorites were probably Nico's and Greens. Nopa was a close runner up. It's tempting to go back to one of those but I'd like to know what other places people recommend. Any new (or old) favorites? Omnivore, open to anything, mid January. Staying in the Union Square area. Also would like recs for craft cocktails (doesn't necessarily need to be the same place for both food and drink, although that would be nice).
Also, are there any exciting museum exhibits or events in town in early 2017? I did the main tourist stuff last time but the only museum I really spent a lot of time in was Asian Art.

Well, first you need to find an real goose to bartend. And it must be a hipster goose- you know, someone with tattoos and nattily dressed and attitude but not (and this is very important) a FAKE hipster. Other geese in the know can smell that from miles away.
And the goose must have sufficient customer service skills to both discourage customers from drinking Grey Goose but also to make the customer feel special for drinking artisan soda in place of seven up because of course that bar does not actually have seven up.
Sorry, couldn't resist. Goose and Seven isn't something I drink because I don't like seven up but I think it would be a safety drink if I did. You know...what you order because the bartender at the college bar cannot possibly screw it up. Cosmo used to be my safety drink but I have both lost my sweet tooth and been proven wrong...there are apparently many, many ways to render a Cosmo nearly undrinkable

If you enjoy photography, this is my favorite, walking distance from Union Square: http://raykophotocenter.com/upcoming-show/
There's a break between shows that may impact a visit in mid-Jan.
