Snowy Retreat

Yes, you would probably need to go to the northern U.S. for a snowy cabin. But that's a BIG area--do you prefer Northeastern (upstate NY, New England), Midwest (Door County), Rockies (Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho) or Northwest? When would you want to go--some parts of the country get snow earlier, while others are more known for later snowfalls...

Bear Valley CA is a vacation community where they don't plow the roads, they roll and pack them. People leave their cars down at the highway and either XC ski, rent snowmobile, or use the snow taxi to get in to the cabin areas (many of which have great views. I'm sure there might be similar options in Colorado.
