Hello,
I am planning a ski trip to snowshoe WV for the first time in Feb. 2000. Just wanted to ask for recommendations, good/bad experiences, anything you might want to share about snowshoe.

Snowshoe is very popular on weekends (read: crowded). Good elevation (about 5000ft) and occasional lake-effect snows extend the ski season usually from Thanksgiving through early April. Upper Cupp Run is quite a rush, but overall terrain is moderate. Silver Creek next door is better for beginners and a free shuttle is included with lift tix. Silver Creek has an all-inclusive lodge with large suites, restaurants, outdoor jacuzzis, ski shop and rentals in one building. Private rentals are also available. Not much retail nearby... a plus in my book. I've skiied WV and my favourite is Canaan Valley, about 1 hour north of Snowshoe. A little less variety of terrain, but quite a fun mountain and usually less crowded.
Don,
Thanks for the info. We will be staying at Silver Creek, and it sounds like a good time. By the way how are the roads in Feb. I will be coming from Norfolk Va.
