Snow in Estes Park in late December?

Jump to last reply

Hi everyone. We're looking to spend late december 2013 in Estes Park. The main purpose of the trip is for our twin boys, who will be 2 1/2, to be able to have snow play time. Because they are so young, I wanted to rent a cabin (in Prospect mountain) and just have it so that I can get them out for a bit, back in to warm up, then out again for a bit. We live in Houston so they're not used to the cold weather. I found, I think in the Estes Park website, that since it is located in the sunnier side of the great divide, that they don't accumulate as much snow, only in the higher elevations. Also, that they get gale force winds (40 mph).

Has anyone experienced Ested park in late December?

I know weather varies year to year but wanted to see what folk's experience were.

Many thanks!
