skiing near Los Angeles

I have mid-level skiiers coming to visit in February and they would like to hit the slopes while they're here. I'm thinking of taking them to Mount Baldy, but would love any other place recommendations or tips. I am not a skiier, so I could really use some help! Thank you!

How long are they staying? A trip to Mammoth would be really nice, if you could manage to stay there a couple of days. The trip up 395 will take you about 6 hours (depending on where you're starting from.)

Unfortunately, Mt. Baldy doesn't always have enough snow to open. Mountain High, in Wrightwood, would be the next closest, but it is overrun by young snowboarders.

Your best bet for a reasonably close ski resort would be Snow Summit in Big Bear, about 2 hours from LA. They have decent snowmaking equipment, even if Mother Nature is not cooperating. It is also more ski & family-oriented than nearby Bear Mountain.

They are staying less than a week, so Mammoth would be a bit tough. I will definitely look into Snow Summit though - thanks again for your help...

agreed... if you can swing it, Mammoth will provide a completely different (better) experience than the others.

However, if time is really tight, I concur with the Big Bear idea.
