Ski Destinations in April

My teenagers are on Spring break April 5, 2008 - mApril 12th. Are there any destination in the Western US with guaranteed snow this time of year?

We visited Park City two years ago with much success but I recall they closed arount the 7th of April.

Thanks!

April will be a little tricky for snow. It definitely won't be a "guarantee" almost anywhere you go that time of year. Do they have any days off earlier in the year, such as Jan through March? This would be a better time for skiing.

Harvey,

April skiing at the higher Utah resorts is usually great! Snowbird and Alta in Little Cottonwood, Brighton and Solitude in Big Cottonwood.

Just watch the snow reports.

Last year I flew in to SLC on Apr 14th. Deer Valley closed on the 15th so I skied a half day there and then went over to Snowbird. Alta was actually closed weekdays at that point. Snowbird still had a few weeks of snow.

Of course there is no guarantee. So far it's been lousy weather out west, Snowbird still isn't open. I live in NE and while we were out at Snowbird last year, VT was getting pelted. My luck... At that point in the season, Snowbird is probably the best bet if not the only bet out west.

Mammoth Lakes, CA has snow in May and June and there has been skiing on July 4th some years. Mammoth is a huge mountian with lots of different terrain.
