I'm planning a trip to Providence and NewPort in Oct. I'm a single female.
What are the better areas to stay in for a single female?

How many days are you planning for?

I would stay downtown in Providence (at the Westin or Biltmore) for a night or two and then stay in Newport as close to Thames St. as possible. There are a lot of B&Bs that are very charming/welcoming.

And if you like beer and brats There is a great Oktoberfest in Newport during the weekend of 10/11/03 - 10/13/03. GREAT time.
