Siesta Key - Crescent Beach Condo? - Help!
Hi everyone, we need some guidance on figuring out where to stay on Crescent Beach in Siesta Key.
I have looked at what seems to be a million condo complexes and so far like: Midnight Cove and Siesta Dunes. We like these because:
-no road to cross
-pool on/next to the ocean
-no super high rises
-screened lanais with backyards that we can sit on while the baby naps (but still be outside/get some sun close by).
Does anyone know of any other complexes that are similar to these right on Crescent Beach that offer the same facilities?
I know it's a big wishlist, but with a 2 year old, we definitely need a ground floor unit and need to be close to the ocean without a major walk!
Help!!

We just returned from a week at Siesta Dunes and I highly recommend staying there. We have stayed at and been in other properties on Siesta Key and I would return to Siesta Dunes in a heartbeat. The lack of high rises means the beach is less crowded. The sun deck there is very nice and a great place to watch the sun set or have your evening drinks and/or meal. We saw 4 units while there and they were all nicely decorated and maintained. The grounds are very well kept. I can't think of anything negative to say about Siesta Dunes. When do you plan to go? In the high season they enforce a two week minimum.

Hi there, thanks for responding.
We are planning on going at the end of May and have a few units in mind. With a small toddler (2 yrs), we need a unit that is away from any noise in the late afternoon (nap time) and evening after 8 pm. Is the pool area noisy? If so, would you recommend one of the buildings away from the pool?
Thanks!

Hi again - forgot to ask - are the buildings that are away from the pool noisy at all? I see from the Siesta Dunes web site that some of them appear to be near the road - again, we are worried about the noise factor.
Thx!

We stayed in Building 8 which was right on the road and not noisy at all. The rent was about $300 less for the week and with the fact that we were on the beach all day and the sun deck at night, we thought that building # 8 was a good choice. The pool area, which is near the ocean front condos can be noisy, depending on who is at the pool. Or if no one is there, it will be quiet. You never know. I think you are safe with one of the units near the road, if you are trying to save money. It won't be noisy.

Hi Kathy, thanks for the info. It's very helpful!
Are there bbq's near bldgs 6, 7 or 8 or do you have to walk to the other buildings to use them?
Also, do the individual units have beach chairs/umbrellas? If so, are they kept on the beach or do you have to bring them to the beach every time?
Thanks so much!

Forgot to ask as well - what unit in building 8 were you in? We are looking at #101, 104 and 105 on the ground floor. Have you stayed at or been into any of these units?
Does the garden area get much sun during the day?
Thanks!

We were in 204 and our friends were in 205. Both were nice, but I think 205 was nicer. I wasn't in the first floor units. We didn't even look for grills near our building as we preferred to grill and eat on the water. There are grills at other locations I just don't know where. I think it shows on the site map on the website where they are. Each unit is individually owned and some have chairs and umbrellas and others don't. We rented chairs for the week but our friends had two chairs in their unit. I'm not sure what you mean by your last question. Do you mean coming in through the windows, or outside the units?

Thanks Kathy - your info is really helpful. It was easy to "wing it" when it was just my husband and I going to a new place, but with a little one, you have to make sure it has everything you need.
By sun, I meant into the units and the garden area too (not sure how close together the buildings are and therefore whether they get much sun)?
Thanks!

I didn't notice too much sun into the units during the day, especially our 2nd bedroom which was on the east side of the condo. The "lanai" faces west and gets sun. Ours was enclosed and our friends next door was outdoors. I preferred the outdoor lanai. There is a grassy area between building 8 and building 7, I'm guessing about 50 feet between the 2 buildings and that area is sunny in the afternoon. I tried to look at the units you are considering on the website but I don't think there are photos of 2 of them. If you call the office they should be able to describe them for you. Good luck and let me know what you decide.

Hi Kathy, thanks for all of your information. We decided to stay at the Midnight Cove complex instead as another couple decided to come with us and we needed more space.
Thanks again for your help!
