Hi,
We are leaving tomorrow for Denver and driving to Vail for a few days. With the existing fires and potential road closures and smoke, should I cancel the trip?
Thanks.

Absolutely not! Denver is open, I-70 is open, and Vail is a long way from the fires. In Denver, you can sometimes smell smoke, but it's not like the cloud has enveloped the city. The existing fires are a horrible event, but they only impact relatively small, localized areas far enough away from the Denver metro area. You'll be fine traveling into Denver and going on to Vail.
We were in Vail last weekend and there was no smell of smoke. It was beautiful, clear weather. This was before the newest fires started in Boulder.
We are going to see more fires this summer, because Colorado is bone dry and our temperatures have been record-setting. But it wouldn't make sense to try to plan your vacation, based on potential problems.
