Should a family stay in Teaneck New Jersey to visit NYC daily???
Hi I have a family and trying to stay at a none crappy place and someone suggested I stay at the Marriott in Teaneck and just take the subway(?) or taxi to manhattan daily. Is this way to long to spend traveling to save some money? Am I a idiot or is this a smart move. I can get rooms for 100.00. Thanks for your time.

You can't take the subway from outside NYC because it doesn't go outside city limits. You can look at the hotel website to see what your options are. Is it near PATH or NJ Transit? How much will it cost to go back and forth?
Have you check Long Island City? It's a neighborhood in Queens, NY which has some hotels that are located near subway stations and can be convenient to go into Manhattan. There are often good rates there.
If you give your exact dates, budget in USDs and the number of beds you need, maybe someone can make some suggestions if you realize Teaneck isn't a good option.

Taxi fare from Teaneck to NYC would be very high (I wouldn't be surprised if it were over $50 each way + tips and tolls). It costs almost $10 just to go around the block in this town. Also if your family is more than 4 people, you'd need 2 taxis!

No - a really bad idea. See your other thread.
A taxi from midtown Manhattan to Teaneck will cost in excess of $60 - plus tip and toll - so $120 per day -assuming you are no more than 4 people.
Also assuming you can find a cab to take you - many will not go out of state (since they have to return empty) and they are not required to. Much better to put that amount towards a room in a much better location.

If yo are willing tostay in a mixed use area in Queens, Long Island city has several modest hotelsthat mightfit your needs. Just be sure to get one close to a subway - then you can be in the heart of Manhattan in 20 minutes for only a couple of dollars each.
