What the street vendors sell is junk. (If you pay $10 for a watch - that's what it's worth.)
In the discount stores listed you can get moderate or upscale stuff at reduced - sometimes highly discounted prices.

The vendors along Canal Street in Chinatown sell knock-off and "fake" handbags, watches, scarves, sunglasses, pens, etc. The best blocks are between Mulberry and Broadway. Be sure to have cash, and it's okay to bargain.
Quality varies. If you buy a watch and it dies, it probably just needs a new battery. I've had Chinatown watches for year, spent more on batteries than for the watch.
And, finally, if you don't see what you want, ask. Often they keep the best fakes in the back.
Enjoy!

An article in the NY Post today ... once again the NY City Council will consider a "crack down" on 'fake' goods, including larger fines & prison sentences.
Consider
But still, get 'em while you can!
