I will be in Scottsdale with friends for one day in a few weeks. I hate shopping, but will have to go with my friend. Can someone recommend an area that we can go to that has lots of unique shops? I wouldn't mind window shopping and walking a bit. Also, I would like to go someplace nice and different for lunch. Price doesn't matter as long as the food is good. A nice view would be a plus.

I would recommend Kierland Commons in North Scottsdale. An outdoor, main street type shopping area with some chain stores, Crate and Barrel, Restoration Hardware, Ann Taylor, Talbots, Coldwater Creek, etc and some local stores too. There are several places there for lunch. I would recommend Zinc Bistro for lunch and if it is nice you may be able to sit outside.
T-8,
Kierland Commons...good choice. I second the motion.
A nice place for lunch is `Arcadia Farms` situated in an old house w/outside patio. Only problem is that the location is just the opposite from Kierland and is located in s. Scottsdale vs. n. Scottsdale.
I would suggest either El Pedregal,
Borgata or even Biltmore Fashion Park
as alternatives to Kierland Commons.
El Pedregal is a bit more unique - has
a satellite of the Heard Museum as well
as shops and galleries and several
restaurants. It is basically next door
to The Boulders Resort, where you could
have lunch. Borgata is also
unique, with many shops and a couple of
restaurants - modelled after a Tuscan
village. Biltmore Fashion Park is an
outdoor mall with many of the usual
shops, and several restaurants (but in
Phoenix).
