We're driving from Custer to Old Faithful Inn, Yellowstone. We decided to sightsee along the way and stay in Sheridan. Not locked into Sheridan if there is a better place. Any suggestions for clean and comfortable beds?

I had a one night stay in the historic Mill Inn, which I found to be nice; comfortable, not close to much, but fine for what you're looking for and with a helpful and friendly staff. It's a bit quirkier than your standard motel!
Sheridan is a pleasant town--well worth a stop. We were happy at the Hampton Inn, and there are other national brands from which to select.

If you are traveling through Wyoming, a stop in Sheridan is well worth the time. I found it had a nice "old west" feel to it and it added to my "cowboy experience" out there. At the same time, it offers modern comforts at all the services you would need during a day trip or overnight stay.
As for lodging, the only advice I can give is a thumbs down for the Best Western there. This is where I stayed and I was not pleased. I was woken up a few times by the loud train that rumbles right by the hotel and the room was not very clean or comfortable. I am usually very happy at a Best Western but this one was a bad experience. I wish I had a positive recommendation for you but I only stayed in Sheridan once... but loved it.
Thanks everyone...something to go by!!!
We just stopped in Sheridan to check it out on our road trip. The Sheridan Inn seems to have been recently renovated and looked interesting.
