Sheraton Fishermans Wharf in San Fran

Does anyone know anything about this hotel? Stayed there? It is listed as a four star AAA hotel....do you agree with that ranking?

Dear Jeff,
I had the pleasure staying there in August of 1996.
It was a well located hotel. Within walking distance to Pier 39 which had the tour trollies and circle line ferries. The only fault with the hotel was their pool was shaded. With the air from the bay, it was to cold to swim. Also, try to get on the business floor, they comp. continental breakfast daily.

I just stayed there april 20 for three days before going down the coast. I don't think it rates a 4 but it was very nice. It is not on the beach. I was told it was. Everyone was very nice. breakfast buffet was good , if not into that complimentary coffee and tea near lobby. pool is heated yet small and enclosed by the hotel. It is a quick walk to pier 39 and the beggars. Hopefully you'll get a less foggy experience than mine. Good food Try Stars the restaurant not the cafe..

I had the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel in my life. After the maid refused to leave the room while I was using the restroom, she decided the following day to continually harass me. I told the maid on four occasions when I was checking out. She did not listen to me and later walked in my room without knocking and found me and my partner naked. She would not leave and I had to push her out of the room still completely naked. We were completely violated, and management did nothing to fix the problem when we were there. In fact after telling management about the events that had occurred, she barged back into the room again.

After multiple calls to management and corporate, days later the assistant manager called and offered us an apology and 2 nights free stay, but four later the manager called and said he was rescinding on the offer and would not honor what is assistant had offered us. He was rude, inconsiderate and unprofessional. To add to it, the manager told me he would do more research and get back to me, but to be consistent with his behavior and the behavior of his staff, he never bothered to get back to me. Clearly they have no concern for anyone’s privacy, do not follow through on their word, and have incompetent staff from the top to the bottom. I would never recommend anyone stay here. If this is how they treat their preferred guest (which we are) then I can’t imagine how they treat their everyday guests.

Jeff, just to be clear, "stars" don't designate quality. They designate whether a property does or does not have certain features. So this hotel probably has the features that make it a 4-star establishment (probably it means it is a full-service hotel with a restaurant offering room service and a business center). That's what a four-star hotel is, typical of a Sheraton. A 3-star hotel has all those features without a restaurant. It doesn't mean it's "four-star" quality.
