SF area to stay & play

Me and my best gals are going to be in SF for a full day and night on Thursday June 16th. We are celebrating my 34th birthday and would love to see a few sites and enjoy some delicious food and drinks along the way. We have a flight out on Friday am at 10:30am so I'd like to know what area of town we should book a hotel for easy access to SFO in the am but also maybe be able to Uber throughout the day and not worry about driving. None of us have been to SF in almost 10 years, and I can remember having a great time seeing all the seals down at the pier, ferry building, Alcatraz, The Cliffhouse and Buena Vista Cafe being some highlights of my past trip. Any suggestions? We will have just spent the 3 days prior in Carmel/Big Sur/Monterey area wine-ing, hiking, and dining and are game for just about anything. THANKS Fellow Fodor Members!

You can Uber to and from anywhere in San Francisco (including the airport) easily, so that's not part of the equation. I'd recommend you stay near the Embarcadero (Hyatt Regency, Vitale) because it's easy access, near tons of restaurants, on the bay, walkable to the ferry building, etc. There are so many good restaurants in the area, it's hard to recommend one, but for "finer" Italian, there's Perbacco, for great fried chicken, Wayfare Tavern, my favorite tapas is Coqueta, and there are many other choices.
