Seward/Exit GLacier RV

Has anyone information on Bear Creek RV Park or Stoney Creek RV Park? We are going on August 1 and plan on staying at eaither one for about 3 days. We will be traveling with 4 children, ages 10-12. Also, from reading the mile post, I see you can park an RV at selected spots along Exit Glacier Road for the night up to 8 days. Does anybody have knowledge of this? Thank you for your help.

We were there for the 4th of July and there was several RV's parked at pullouts along the road. Nothing to do there but look at the Glacier runoff stream. You might drive into Seward & checkout the City RVparks, the views are awesom & walking distance to most everything. We stayed there for 4 nites @ $12. On your RV rental, check with your auto ins. co. for CDW. State Farm charged me $ 1.00 per day, the RV co. wants $ 16.95 per day. Check your planned driving milage. RV co. pushes their unlimited mileage plan @ roughly $ 25.00 per day. I drove over 1800 miles in 16 days @ .17 per mile & came out cheaper. Some of the awesom seinery will be boring for the kids but keep them looking for bears & Moose that are on the roads & byways. Beware! Alaska roads are the worst roads I have ever driven on! This was my 3rd trip & on the Parks hwy near Denali I have been hungup twice for 1 1/2 hours for 2 accidents, both with dual fatalities. Drive safe & have a great time.

Big Jerry,
What state do you live in. I called my state farm agent and they didn't know anything about it. Can you tell me what you asked for. It may be that my state doesn't accept waivers that other states accept.

kygirl - you're not alone! My State Farm Agent told me the same thing - even though I have insurance for our RV with him!

cjnky,

I've talked to my state farm agent again and after calling their service center told me we were covered. They changed my deductibles to $250.00 for collision and $0 for comprehensive at no cost to me. This will save the $16.95/day for Great Alaskan's Insurance. The only downside is if something does happen we'll have to pay the deductibles and then get reimbursed from State Farm.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you, We live in Florida. They did this for me in 2003 also for less $, Credit cards cover cars in most countries but not RV's. I guess the find that drivers going from a car to a large RV can get into trouble easily.

We just drove the roads last week and had no trouble at all with traffic or accidents.

Did you know about the rv's parked on the beach in Seward? That was quite a sight when we were there, lol. Something to look into as Seward is very close by Exit Glacier.

This topic saved me over $200!!! Thank you VERY MUCH!!! I went back to my State Farm Agent (now, take into consideration that we have FOUR vehicles insured with him including an RV!) I told him I was there with the same question I had last time, and he responded "and my answer is the same". I said "Would you mind calling your service center because I've heard that State Farm can save me the 15.95/day the RV company wants!" He called and guess what he found out!! I don't think he was too happy to be proven wrong - but I sure thank ya'll for the info on this!

(And to last poster - yes, we definitely plan to stay on Seward beach.)
