Seward without a car
Hello! My family and I are cruising out of Seward at the end of June. We fly into Anchorage and then head to Seward for 3 nights pre cruise. My original plan was to rent a car in Anchorage and drive to Seward. My understanding is that Hertz is the only car rental company that has a drop off in Seward, and now they're out of cars! So we'll be taking the train. My concern is not having a car in Seward. Are there taxis/Uber etc? We staying at the Box Canyon Cabins, NOT in downtown. Please tell me we won't be stranded at the cabin. Thanks!

There is a free, hop on/hop off shuttle bus run by the city that may work for you. One of the stops is the train station.

I would phone the Hertz office in Seward rather than relying on any online booking method. I'm not familiar with the Box Canyon property, but looking at a map it appears to be quite some distance from downtown Seward - restaurants, etc.
While there are taxi services in Seward, if you can't get a car I'd be tempted to look for other accommodation options, or in the worst case reduce the number of nights in Seward and stay in Anchorage or Girdwood (with a local Anchorage car) instead.

Seward is a tiny town. It has a bustling population of 2500 - that is smaller than the occupation of a city's downtown office buildings. Do not expect the amenities and conveniences you'd have even in a decent-sized college town (40k) in the lower 48. And if you don't have a vehicle, don't stay outside downtown.
