I will preface this by saying we haven't been to Florida in 20 years and have never been to this area before.
Okay, I can't stand the snow and cold any longer so, I impulsively booked a quick 5 day trip to Florida. We're flying into Ft Lauderdale and the plan is for us to catch a few Spring Training games in Jupiter. If possible, I'd like to stay somewhere on a beach. The dates are March 16-20 and I imagine that's smack in the middle of college Spring Break.
I'm hoping there's some area in-between Ft Lauderdale and Jupiter that's not favored by college kids. Is there any way to avoid the whole college break thing other than spending $600+ a night to stay at Ritz or Four Seasons? I was hoping they all go to South Beach but, something tells me that's not the case. We're in our 50's and we'd probably we willing to spend up to $400 a night.
Any ideas?

Why does it have to be in between the two? Is that for the airport proximity?
I live in Fort Lauderdale and the whole spring break thing is highly discouraged by the "officials" here although i suppose some kids still come. Lots of them get on cruise ships for the week.
Palm Beach? Jupiter itself? Delray or Boynton? What ELSE besides those games do you want to do..knowing that would be a big help.
My adult daughter and I just spent a long weekend at the Embassy Suites in Deerfield Beach. Presidents' Day weekend it was $260/night with AAA discount. Parking is an additional $18/day, internet $10/day - but there is a decent breakfast buffet (with omelet guy, waffles, other hot food, fresh fruit) included and a "Manager's Reception each evening where there is free wine and beer and if you tip the bartender mixed drinks as well. Location is between WPB and FLL, so you can find restaurants or activities in either area.
It has a small but nice pool, is across the street from the beach (which has shrunk due to hurricanes but is still there). For a bit more money you get ocean view room with balcony. Real 2-room suites with 2 full bathrooms, microwave, refrigerator, 2 TVs. We had no complaints.
According to my daughter the place to go is Panhandle/Panama City area for Spring Break - so you may be safe.
Gail, thank you---that's a relief. I guess the spring break location has changed since my college days. We really don't have any plans for this getaway other than a little r&r. Maybe some beach time and we've always wanted to try Joe's Stone Crab so maybe we'll head down to Miami for a day? We like going out to nice dinners and since it'll be warm, alfresco is always preferred.
