Seattle, Walla Walla, Portland and Oregon wine country - thoughts??

My wife and I will be flying in/out of Seattle (June 30 - July 13) and given our distinct lack of knowledge of the area (only recently decided on this trip), we would certainly like some thoughts on the framework of the following possible itinerary.We are primarily interested in visiting the wine regions and simply going from small town to small town and also to view the landscape.

- Arrive in Seattle and spend 3 nights
- Take the train to Portland and spend 2 nights
- get a rental car and head for the coast for 2 nights
- Williamette valley for 3 nights
- Columbia Gorge area for 2 nights
- Train back to Seattle for 1 night

My one regret, with the above is that I don't see how we can fit in the Walla Walla area. Perhaps the only way to get Walla Walla into the intinerary would be to remove Portland from the list.

Any suggestions or thoughts on this general itinerary would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance
