Seattle &Victoria
We're planning to visit Victoria whilst in Seattle in June and would like to spend a whole day there. Torn between the Victoria Clipper and/or seaplane. Grateful for any advice on either or other recommendations.
Many thanks

We have done the Clipper, but not the seaplane, so can give only info on it... I loved the trip on the water, but hubby DID NOT. Even after taking seasickness pill (I guess not early enough...), it ruined the day for him.

Drive to Port angeles from Seattle and take the boat from there. i don't remember if that was the Victoria Clipper or not. The town of port angeles is nothing special, but right up the road is the road in Olympic National park which leads you to hurricane ridge. The view from the top is absolutely spectacular. They don't take reservations at the ferry so get there early, buy your tickets and then go see the ridge. I am telling you all this on the assumption that you have a car.

Planning a trip for May to Vancouver and then Seattle, myself. Had thought of taking the ferry from Vancouver to Victoria and then Victoria to Seattle, but I get deathly ill if the boat lurches around too much. Is this a reasonably high probability here? I didn't think the Puget Sound was given to much in the way of "high seas" and I have taken the ferry to Friday Island with no problem at all.

The Victoria Clipper takes a couple of hours more in each direction than the planes, plus the Strait of Juan de Fuca can be rough, causing (a) the Clipper to slow down, therefore (b) raising the possibility of seasickness for those inclined. While motion sickness is possible in the planes, the flight is only 45 min. or so, so it's over quickly.
The boat is scenic; the plane is unbelievably scenic. The cost of the plane is a little higher, but you'll have 4 more hours on the ground than you'd have with the Clipper.
BTW, there are excellent, frequent float plane connections from the Inner Harbour in Victoria to Canada Place in downtown Vancouver, of interest to cruise passengers who want to include Victoria in their itinerary.
