Seattle this next weekend
OK, I'm planning on a couple of wool sweaters, a pile hooded sweatshirt, lightweight rain jacket, rain hat, a black challis dress for dinner, flats if it doesn't rain, gortex hikers for slick sidewalks if it does, cords to register at the hotel, jeans for the ferry, black slacks for lah-de-da breakfast--have I forgotten anything? I'm just doing a weekend and right now it's 10 degrees where I live. Makes it hard to plan. I don't need anything short-sleeved do I? Sunglasses? in Seattle? no, didn't think so. What about gloves/stocking cap? The dress is for dinner but will any nice bars kick me out if I'm in jeans? TIA

Actually, we've had a lot of sun this winter and the glare off the often wet roadway can be blinding. I would, believe it or not, include the sunglasses, particularly if you are planning to drive.
Highs have been largely in the fifties or high forties during the day, maybe thirties at night. Your clothes ideas sound good. Wool and fleece are good. The cap would be good for avoiding rain, but it's not been cap-cold thusfar. Haven't needed gloves this year, but if you are out a lot at night, they wouldn't hurt, and they are easy to pack. You can never be too warm, after all.
Don't know about bars and jeans. How 'bout it, Seattle-ites?

I think you can wear jeans just about anywhere in Seattle--I've even seen them at the opera and ballet. I wouldn't be comfortable in them in some situations, but if your goal is to pack light, you can probably get away with them.
Actually, you may be packing a bit too heavy--the paper is predicting sun all weekend (but it's been known to be wrong).
Hope you have a great time.
