Seattle: Something Different?
The situation: 3 nights for a military reunion. The Husbear is being dragged along but will probably spend his time hanging out while I am engaged in re-telling all the war stories we told at last year's reunion in Jacksonville Beach!
Staying at the Four Seasons. We figured he could spend some time at the Market or the Aquarium or the Art Museum; he isn't much of a shopper but will probably enjoy the hotel pool at some point.
Chihuly Museum perhaps? The Space Needle? He is not a coffee drinker so forget any suggestions for that, thanks. We will depart by car at the end for a trip down to Cannon Beach and Portland which is our departure point.
I am tempted to break away and do a day trip by car to somewhere; the Whidbey Island loop sounds interesting.
Anything really out of the ordinary I'd enjoy hearing about and thank you.

Would this strike his interest?

I've not been there, but my hiking buddy's daughter works there as a curator. Therefore he says it's a great museum. It's right next to Chihuly which my wife and I really enjoyed. That is also great at night when they light up the outdoor works.

The Boeing factory tour followed by the Whidbey loop would be my first suggestion. Drive up to the Boeing factory and Future of Flight center (around 25 min. from downtown Seattle) and take the 90-min. tour of the Boeing Everett plant, home of the 747/777/787s and the biggest building in the world. Then drive (<10 min.) to Mukilteo and take the ferry over to Whidbey Island. Visit the cute town of Langley, then drive up the island to Deception Pass, a stunning little gap between Whidbey and Fidalgo Islands, where the water rushing through at tide change is amazing.
Continue over the Deception Pass bridges, then travel (back on the mainland - no ferry) to the equally cute little town of La Conner, before making your way back to I-5 and Seattle.
It's a full but not especially taxing day, a real introduction to the Puget Sound country.

I also believe you will enjoy Chihuly Garden and Glass, especially after dark when the garden it lit up. The museum's Collections restaurant serves good food.
You may also enjoy attending one or more of the summer concerts downtown: http://www.downtownseattle.com/Summer/otl.php
The Argosy cruise that goes through the locks is a favorite of ours as is the ferry to Bainbridge Island and a walk around the streets of the little town of Clinton.

Thanks, again, for these further suggestions. I would like the baseball game; he would be bored to tears but that's part of the "better or worse" thing as many know. I appreciate your suggesting it, however.

On Bainbridge we enjoyed sitting on the deck of this place:

They made a really delicious "martini", using fresh local berries. So good we went back another for round 2. Also an excellent ice cream parlor on Bainbridge. Riding the ferry out there was fun and relaxing.

Up in the Fremont area is the world headquarters of geocaching.

August 16 is the annual block party but it's a fun place to visit anytime. Under the big bridge near the HQ is a troll.

Lots of good suggestions. The EMP is hit or miss with people, just depends on how much they are into music, IME.
Heading up to Whidbey would be great, so make sure you don't let him do this one alone.
What about one of the food tours? Savour Seattle has tours, and they are chocolate tours at Theo.
There is also the Great Wheel. Doesn't take very long, but it is interesting and nice to see the city from a different vantage point.
You might also like the Tillicum Village salmon bake. Also the Olympic Scultpure Park.

This is way different and FUN! http://zinzanni.com/seattle/
If you like jazz: http://www.jazzalley.com/www-home/
Read: "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet" and then go to Panama Hotel. We caught a little jazz recital there, based on the book. http://www.sitespecificarts.org/proj...ma-hotel-jazz/

This looks like fun: http://saltys.com/news/seattle/item/...n-west-seattle
We took the free bus out to the beach after brunch last year and spent time just walking and sitting and looking at ocean

Marination Ma Kai, a fixed branch of a popular food truck operation, is located right on the dock where the West Seattle Water Taxi lands. It's funkier and way cheaper than Salty's, IMO better, provided you go for things like Loco Moco, or Kalbi tacos. Also breakfast and beer, on the deck.
You can also rent bikes or kayaks next door to the Ma Kai, or use the free shuttle bus to go (around 1 1/2 miles) to all the cafes, bars etc. along Alki Beach.

Breakfast and beer? I wouldn't even consider that combo in Munich and I was just there a couple weeks ago. No matter, these suggestions have been helpful and will share them with the intended as I am sure he will be interested in some of them.
Thanks very much to all.
