Seattle airport to Anacortes - things to do

Arriving SEA at 9:00 am and taking the ferry to San Juans from Anacortes at 3:30pm. Would like to leave the city and kill some time north of city sightseeing, having lunch, etc...on way to Anacortes. Any suggestions? (we are not gamblers so stopping at a casino would not be an option) La Conner?

Thank you for any suggestions.

LaConner is nice. If you're into gardening there is a fun nursery with a cafe just past Conway. Several art galleries in the Stanwood/Camano Island area. If you're hikers there are some nice easy trails in Washington Park in Anacortes with water views.

La Conner is a quaint little town and another attraction between Seattle and Anacortes is something quite different: The Future of Flight Aviation & Boeing Tour, which includes a tour of the Boeing factory in one of the world's largest buildings.

If this interests you, reservations are necessary: http://www.futureofflight.org/

If anybody in your party likes to shop, this outlet mall might interest you: http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=71

This mall has been so enthusiastically received by shoppers that its expansion was reported yesterday: http://www.komonews.com/news/local/127573058.html

After living near Seattle for over 15 years, I finally took the Boeing Tour last week, and found it very interesting. Agree that reservations are essential.
