Scottsdale or Key West in March

I am planning to take my 7-yr-old twin boys to the Westin Kierland Resort in Scottsdale or Westin Key West Resort. I am a little concerned about the crowds, kid-friendly activities, and spring break, partying nightlife in Key West. And in Scottsdale I am wondering about the weather the last week of March, though I understand the pools & water park are heated. I have read that the Kierland is very kid-friendly. I realize the two are very different, but any comments about the weather & activities, etc. in either town in springtime?

According to weather underground the average temp in Key West in March (mid-70's) is a little lower than it would be in Scottsdale and obviously much more humid.

As to kid-friendly activities in Key West I think that might depend somewhat on your definition of such. Remember it is not a beach town but more a lie-around-the-pool kind of place.

As to the partying nightlife and the drinking which definitely does happen in Key West...am not sure just how that would affect your kids unless you are concerned about it being on the resort grounds.

The town is much more compact than Scottsdale and perhaps the type of folks who would be there might be just a bit more varied, too.

I have taken my kids to both, and would recommend Scottsdale over Key West... the Waterpark at Kierland has a lazy river, surf simulator, waterslides and more fun for 7 yr olds...

The Phoenix area also has the zoo, cowboy stuff and way more for that age group... have fun

Key West would be my choice. You have lots of fun kid things to do...all within walking distance. The Butterfly Garden, the lighthouse to climb, the deep sea treasures, Sunset performers, the chickens wandering around, fish to feed, etc. Scottsdale is spread out and not as interesting a place.

Thanks for your reply. That answers my weather questions. Sounds like Scottsdale weather should be just fine. Om Key West I'm not worried about drinking or partying some, but just wondering about fun things for kids to do (besides watersports), as well as crowds that time of year? The Westin Kierland seems to have a lot of kid's activities including an on site heated, water park, the mining company inside the resort specificially for kids, scavenger hunts... and we were thinking about a day trip to the Grand Canyon. Any comments will be appreciated!

Key West can be crowded when the cruise ships dump off a thousand or more passengers at the end of Duval...

Regarding the Grand Canyon... consider taking the kids to Williams AZ and riding the Railroad to the Canyon... its a fun way to travel
