Schenectady NY Hotel?

Will be driving to NYS to pick up a tour and need to stay one night in Schenectady NY area and would appreciate a hotel recommendation for a decent hotel, in a safe area. Thinking about the Holiday Inn in Schenectady , but reviews seem to be mixed.
Wondering if the area is safe? Would I be better staying in Albany on Wolf Rd? Thanks..

Well, there's not much to choose from, but the Super 8 might be your best bet, especially price-wise...At least the 1 review over at Tripadvisor is positive.

You can do an area-wide quote. Visit http://www.resideo.com/us/newyork/sc...69103817.hotel and click the "Check Availability" button. Choose your dates, submit the form, then sort by price.

You can then read a bit more about each hotel, view pics, book online, etc.

Hope that helps..good luck!

There's a selection of hotels near Albany airport, and that's really not too far outside Schenectady -- don't recall seeing much of anything hotel-like in downtown Scdy.

I agree with pal440, there is a wide selection of hotels along the Northway (I87) at exit 4 (Airport) on Wolf Rd.

If you can answer a couple of questions it can help us give a better recommendation.

From where are you coming? NYS Thruway from the west or down the Northway?

Is there a particular destination in Schenectady you are headed? Many Schenectady addresses are actually very close to the west side of Albany, near the airport.

What is your budget? I like the Hampton Inn wolf rd - newly renovated, very comfortable beds, and easy access to highways and local roads alike. It's been running about $150/nt the last few mo, so it's not cheap.

In downtown Sch'dy, you should check out the Parker Hotel (next to Proctors Theater) and The Stockade Inn. Both are recently restored historic buildings with very nice accomodations.

I actually found a brand new Hampton Inn on State St in downtown Schenectady. It's getting good reviews on Trip Advisor. We really need to stay in Schenectady because we are picking up a very early bus tour from there. Rate was $135, but using Hilton HHonors points, so works out great!
Albany hotels near Wolf Rd would be about a 30 min drive.
